    How do I install WordPress?

You can easily install WordPress from your hosting account with a few clicks using Installatron.

    1. Before using Installatron, make sure the domain name is resolving to your Slamdot hosting account.
    2. Go to http://www.yourdomain.com/installatron.
    3. Login to Installatron with your hosting username and password.
      • If you forgot your hosting username, you can find it on the “Plan” tab inside your control panel, under the “Welcome” section, or you can find it on the “Plan” tab under the “Settings” section.
      • If you forgot your password, you can reset it, but this will also change your default FTP password and default database user password, so keep this in mind before changing it, especially if you use FTP to manage your website. You can change it on the “Plan” tab inside your control panel, under the “Settings” section.
    4. Once you login, on the left-hand side there will be the option under Content Management Systems to install WordPress. Click that link to go to the WordPress installer.
    5. From the WordPress installer, click the “install this application” button to begin the process of installing WordPress.
    6. Proceed through the steps to install WordPress how you’d like it on your hosting account, selecting the domain name and file path you want to use. If you’re installing WordPress on the main domain name, leave the file path field blank.
    7. You can manually manage the database settings, or let Installatron manage them for you. You only need to make sure there is a database created on your hosting account that Installatron can use.
    8. On the Settings screen you can manually change the username and password, or keep the default settings that Installatron creates. You can also update the administrator email address and the blog/website title. If you use the default password, be sure to write it down so you can login to manage WordPress later at http://www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin. You’ll be able to change all of this information later if you want, by logging into your WordPress account.
    9. You should get a successfully installed screen with all of your details, which you can print for your records.
    10. Disable organizing uploads into month- and year-based folders, by logging in and going to Settings , then Media and unchecking Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders.
    11. Make sure your .htaccess file contains the following code:

      SecFilterEngine Off SecFilterScanPOST Off

That should be it! You’re good to go. WordPress is installed and you’re ready to roll.
