How do I setup Outlook 2007 with my Slamdot email account using POP?
Posted by Daniel on November 6, 2010The steps below are for setting up your Slamdot email account inside Microsoft Outlook 2007 using POP.
- In Microsoft Outlook, from the Tools menu, select Account Settings.
- On the E-mail tab, click New.
- In the Add New E-mail Account dialog box, click Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP.
- On the next page, do not enter any information, and check the Manually configure server settings or additional server types check box, and then click Next.
- Click Internet E-mail, and then click Next.
- On the Internet E-Mail Settings window, enter the following information:
- Your Name
- Your first and last name.
- E-mail Address
- Your email address.
- Account Type
- Select "POP3" from the drop-down list.
- Incoming Mail Server
- mail.yourdomain.com
- Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
- mail.yourdomain.com
- User Name
- Your full email address again (must include @yourdomain.com)
- Password
- Your email account password.
- Leave Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) unchecked.
- Click More Settings.
- In the Internet E-mail Settings window, go to the Outgoing Server tab.
- Select My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
- Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
- Go to the Advanced tab, and change the Outgoing server (SMTP) port to 587.
- Click OK.
- Click the Test Account Settings button under Test Settings. If everything is setup properly, all tests should run successfully and pass.
- If the tests run fine, then click Next.
- Click Finish.
