    How do I setup Thunderbird 3.0 for Mac with my Slamdot email account using IMAP?

    The steps below are for setting up your Slamdot email account inside Mozilla Thunderbird 3.0 for Mac using IMAP.

    1. In Thunderbird, click the Tools menu, and select Account Settings….
    2. In the Account Settings dialog box, click the Account Actions button in the bottom left corner, and select Add Mail Account… from the drop-down menu.
    3. On the next window, enter the following information: Your nameYour first and last name, which will be shown to others.Email addressYour full email address.PasswordYour email account password.
    4. Click the Continue button.
    5. Thunderbird will automatically try to find the settings for the email account, but you will want to manually edit these to be sure they are correct, so click the Edit button near the settings.
    6. Enter the following information into the open fields: UsernameYour full email address again, including @yourdomain.com.Incoming:_mail.yourdomain.com_Select IMAP from the drop-down list.Make sure the port number is set to 143.In the drop-down menu to the far right of the Incoming settings, select None.Outgoing:_mail.yourdomain.com_SMTP should not be editable.Make sure the port number is set to 587.In the drop-down menu to the far right of the Outgoing settings, select None.
    7. Click the Re-test Configuration button.
    8. Click the Create Account button.
    9. You may see a red warning box pop up, which is OK. Just select the checkbox next to I understand the risks. and click the Create Account button.
    10. On the following screen, select Server Settings underneath your new email account, then adjust any settings to suit your needs, such as how often to check for new messages, what to do when you delete a message and whether to delete messages and empty the trash upon exiting Thunderbird.
    11. Click OK after you’ve double-checked all of the settings. You should now be able to start sending and receiving email messages.
